Mission
Perform safe, precise excavation and hands-on installation work that turns approved project plans into reliable onsite wastewater systems.
Responsibilities
- Operate compact and mid-size excavation equipment safely around homes, utilities, landscaping, and limited-access areas.
- Support excavation, trench preparation, bedding, component placement, piping, backfill, compaction, grading, and restoration.
- Follow approved plans, field direction, manufacturer instructions, and inspection requirements.
- Complete equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Assist with material loading, delivery coordination, site setup, erosion control, and cleanup.
- Document progress with measurements, photographs, and field notes as directed.
- Treat homeowner property, neighbors, and fellow crew members with care and respect.
- Cross-train on installation and site-restoration tasks.
Ideal background
A careful heavy-equipment operator who is equally willing to work outside the cab. Strong candidates have experience in septic, utility, drainage, landscaping, grading, or residential site work and take pride in accurate, clean execution.
Must-haves
- Demonstrated experience operating excavators or similar compact heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of basic excavation and underground-utility safety practices.
- Ability to follow plans, measurements, grade requirements, and supervisor direction.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- Ability to lift materials and work outdoors in heat, rain, mud, and uneven terrain.
- Reliable attendance, good judgment, and a team-first attitude.
Nice-to-haves
- Septic, wastewater, plumbing, drainage, or underground utility installation experience.
- Hawaiʻi Island residential excavation experience.
- CDL, equipment-transport experience, OSHA 10, CPR/first aid, or competent-person training.
- Experience with laser levels, compactors, skid steers, loaders, or site-restoration equipment.
