Mission
Lead safe, respectful, high-quality field execution for the pilot—from site preparation and excavation through installation, inspection readiness, restoration, and closeout.
Responsibilities
- Direct daily jobsite activities, crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials.
- Operate excavation equipment when needed and supervise excavation, trenching, placement, connections, backfill, grading, and site restoration.
- Review approved plans and actual site conditions before work begins; escalate discrepancies promptly.
- Coordinate job readiness with engineering, permitting, homeowners, inspectors, haulers, and suppliers.
- Enforce jobsite safety, equipment checks, utility-locate requirements, and environmental protections.
- Maintain clear daily records, photographs, measurements, material receipts, and field-change documentation.
- Protect homeowner property and ensure crews communicate professionally on occupied residential sites.
- Coach installers and help build a dependable local field team.
Ideal background
An experienced excavation or septic-construction leader who can both operate equipment and manage a residential jobsite. This person understands that a successful installation requires technical skill, disciplined preparation, careful restoration, and homeowner trust.
Must-haves
- Significant experience operating excavators and leading excavation, underground utility, drainage, or comparable civil field work.
- Experience with septic, onsite wastewater, plumbing, civil site work, or a closely related installation discipline.
- Strong understanding of trench, utility, equipment, and residential-jobsite safety.
- Ability to read site plans, elevations, specifications, and field markings.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varied weather and terrain.
- Dependable job documentation and respectful communication.
Nice-to-haves
- Direct septic installation or cesspool-conversion experience in Hawaiʻi.
- OSHA 30, competent-person training, CPR/first aid, or related safety credentials.
- CDL or experience transporting equipment.
- Experience coordinating inspections and working around existing residential utilities.
- Familiarity with Hawaiʻi Island neighborhoods, soils, access conditions, and suppliers.
